Halloween Bazaar 2015

Nov 1, 2015

Danielle Tan

NUS ACSSC decided to ride on the bandwagon of the Halloween festival and sell macarons to raise funds for the Chapter. We also offered discounted prices to those who liked our Facebook page, allowing us to generate publicity for our club as well.

Three designs of macarons were bought from Madovermac, following which self-packaging was done before selling to the student population. Macarons were priced at $3 each but discounted to $2.50 when students liked the Facebook page.

The original objective of fund-raising did not go well, as we made an overall loss due to 10 unsold macarons. Buyers indicated that they would buy more if the price range was $1.50- $2. In addition, the macarons were

extremely fragile and defected ones had to be sold at a lower price, adding to the loss. On the publicity front, however, it was a stunning success, as we garnered 30 likes over the event days and 60 more in the following fortnight. This was close to our target of 100 likes and we were heartened that many more people now knew about the existence of NUS ACSSC and our events.

"Future sales of food items will not be very feasible in terms of price and storage."

- Tan Li Hong, Secretary of EXCO AY14/15, on an encore of this event
